Day 2:
Dubrovnik / Trogir /
Sibenik |
|
|
|
|
Breakfast.
Trogir is a town -
museum in the very meaning of the word.
Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, art, original
architecture and nice alleys are given the opportunity in Trogir to
learn about the manifold and complex heritage - from the Romanesque
yard to the modern interiors. The unique historical core, Radovan's
portal, the art collections which have been arousing excitement
among visitors and travelers for centuries offer a tourist beauty,
personified in the relief of Kairos as an appropriate souvenir. The
wider surroundings of Trogir (Trogir - Seget - Ciovo Riviera) is
characterized by lavish green vegetation, numerous islands and
islets, rocky and pebble beaches.
The old core is situated on a small island between the island of
Ciovo and the mainland; connected with the mainland by a small stone
bridge, and with the island of Ciovo by a drawbridge. The town
spreads to the northern coast of Ciovo, opposite the small island.
The historic town of Sibenik, connected with the expansion and
development of the early Croatian state, is rich in cultural and
historical monuments. The most representative among them is the
famous Cathedral of Sibenik, one of the most original architectural
projects of the late Middle Ages, primarily linked to the local
master Juraj Matejev Dalmatinac (George of Dalmatia). The city is
arranged amphitheatrically around the natural harbour and on the
surrounding hill slopes. The city, with the old fortresses of St.
Anne, St. John and Subicevac overlooking it, consists of the Old
Town, characterized by narrow and steep alleys in the west, and the
modern part in the north and southeast.
Afternoon at leisure for individual sightseeing followed by
departure to Sibenik.
Dinner and overnight at hotel in Sibenik.
|
|
|
 |
Day 3:
Sibenik / National Park Krka / Zadar |
|
|
|
|
Breakfast.
The Krka National Park
is a spacious, largely unchanged region of exceptional and
multifaceted natural value, and includes one or more preserved or
insignificantly altered ecosystems. It is intended primarily for
scientific, cultural, educational, recreational, and tourism
activities such as visiting and sightseeing. It was proclaimed a
national park in 1985 as a seventh national park in Croatia.
Dalmatia has numerous karst "beauties", rivers that flow into the
sea from the mountain hinterland, but the Krka has the greatest
natural and scenic importance. A deep gorge and seven systems of
travertine or tufa cascades form flowing lakes leaving no one
indifferent, and experts talk about the great scientific value of
the river and its surroundings. About two thirds of the river course
are part of the existing national park, which includes most of the
river lakes and the two richest cascade system (Roski slap and
Skradinski Buk). Downriver from Skradinski Buk the Krka flows at sea
level and seawater comes right up to the cascades. A turquoise
mirage in the surrounding semi deserted landscape!
For centuries the
capital city of Dalmatia and today the centre of the region. A city
with a rich heritage of world importance, visible at every step. The
Roman Forum from the 1st century, St. Donatus Church from the 9th
century is the most famous medieval basilica and trademark of the
city. The reconstructed Romanesque St. Grisigono's Church from the
12th century and the St. Mary's bell tower from the year 1105; the
St. Anastasia's Cathedral from the 13th century; the People's Square
with the City's Lodge and Guardhouse from the 16th century, as well
as the mighty fortification walls with first class Sea (farer's) and
Land gates from the 16th century followed by the Three and Five
Wells Squares and many palaces, villas and other historic monuments.
Its attractiveness is due greatly to its fantastic natural position
in the very middle of the Adriatic coast, and to the four National
Parks surrounding it: Plitvice Lakes, Paklenica mountain, the unique
Rivera Krka waterfalls and a string of wondrous islands called
Kornati. No less attractive are the nature Parks of Telascica, the
canyon of the Zrmanja River and the largest natural lake in Croatia
–Lake Vrana in the vicinity of Biograd.
Overnight in the hotel in Zadar.
|
|
|
 |
Day 4: Zadar / National Park
Paklenica / National Park Plitvice |
|
|
|
|
Breakfast.
With its surface area
of 96 km2, from the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea to the highest
peaks of the Velebit Mountains, Vaganski Vrh (1757 m) and Sveto Brdo
(1753 m), Paklenica abounds with numerous natural wonders and
phenomena, which is why the entire area was proclaimed a national
park in 1949. And rightfully so, as this region is simple and
unusual in its connection between the sea and the mountains, rich in
beech and black pine forests, its deep canyons cut vertically into
the Velebit ridge, its karst formations and numerous caves and pits.
In the region stretching from the seacoast to the highest peaks of
Velebit, there are some 800 species of flora. Of these, some 40
species are endemic, plants of limited distribution, mostly located
only on the Velebit Mountains or the Dinaric Mountains.
Alongside flora and vegetation, a wide range of altitudes also
influences the great variety of fauna in the National Park. The
visitor will note abundance in bird life and the pride of the Park
the griffin vulture, the largest bird with a wingspan of 2.6 meters.
Then there are mammals such as bears, wild cat, wild boar, the pine
and the beech marten. Due to the vicinity of the Mediterranean the
region is rich in reptiles (herpetofauna) and insects, notably the
richly ornamented mountain butterfly.
Morning departure for
Plitvice National Park, inscribed on the List of World Heritage
Sites by UNESCO. Tour of the 16 crystal - blue lakes cascading into
92 spectacular waterfalls. Walk on the wooden promenades to view
majestic waters where every turn leads to a breathtaking scenery and
yet another waterfall. Surrounded by dense woods Plitvice lakes are
a natural phenomenon of rare and unique beauty.
Overnight in the hotel
in Plitvice.

a city with a 1700-year old tradition, a variety of archaeological,
historical and cultural monuments, among which the well-known Palace
of Diocletian, inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List,
certainly occupies a special position, and the warmth and offer of a
modern Mediterranean city. The oldest nucleus of Split is located
within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. According to its dimensions
and level of preservation, the Palace represents the most valuable
example of Roman architecture on the eastern coast of the Adriatic
Sea. It was constructed around AD 300 and has a rectangular ground
plan. Its form and arrangement of the buildings within the Palace
represent a transitional style of an imperial villa, Hellenistic
town and Roman camp.

of Dubrovnik - the city of a unique political and cultural history
(the Dubrovnik Republic, the Statute from 1272), of world-famous
cultural heritage and beauty (inscribed on the List of World
Heritage Sites by UNESCO) - is one of the most attractive and famous
cities of the Mediterranean. Apart from its outstanding natural
beauties and well-preserved cultural and historical heritage,
Dubrovnik also offers high-quality visitor opportunities. Dubrovnik
is the city of the highest historical and cultural value and of an
outstanding artistic importance. The town fortifications, ramparts
and towers outside the walls were built, reinforced and
reconstructed in the period from the 12th to the second half of the
17th century. An independent, merchant republic for 700 years
(abolished by Napoleon in 1806); it traded with Turkey and India in
