Day 1, Dubrovnik

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The day is at leisure until a welcome dinner. Enjoy stretching your legs after your flight and go for a stroll down the lovely streets in this delightful city. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (B)


Day 2, Dubrovnik

There is a walking tour of “Old Dubrovnik” this morning. Visit the Rector’s Palace known for its many reconstructions over the years. Continue to Sponza Palace, the Bell Tower Clock and Orlando’s Column a symbol of Croatian independence from the Venetians. You will also see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery. Its pharmacy is one of the oldest in the world. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to enjoy the fascinating history of this city. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (B)

Day 3, Dubrovnik/Montenegro/Dubrovnik

Today you will travel to the Republic of Montenegro. Head towards the beautiful Bay of Kotor, the longest and deepest fjord in Southern Europe. The small picturesque towns of Risan and Kotor sit on the bank and overlook this natural wonder. Then proceed to Cetinje, once the seat of Montenegrin rulers, today is a lovely town filled with history and museums to commemorate the past.  After the sightseeing in Cetinje, travel to the coast for a short stop in the villages of Sveti Stefan where you will love the islet with its charming resort and Budva before returning to Dubrovnik. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (B, D)

Day 4, Dubrovnik/Split

Depart Dubrovnik and travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts, to Split. Enjoy a city tour featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral.  Overnight in Split. (B, D)

Day 5, Split/Trogir/Plitvice

After breakfast, head to Trogir, the center of artistic activities. Scholars from around the world gather to study and paint here. Join them and feel inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds you.  Then journey to Plitvice Lakes National Park slightly inland from the gorgeous coast. Overnight in Plitvice. (B, D)

Day 6, Plitvice

Today you will have the opportunity to enjoy Plitvice National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk around the lower lakes of the park; there are 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation.  Be sure to take many pictures of the sparkling waterfalls and the wildlife that make the park their home.  If you are up for it join an option cycling, hiking or rowing experience to fully appreciate the park. Overnight in Plitvice. (B, D)

Day 7, Plitvice/Opatija/Postojna/Bled

Returning to the coast, stop at the beautiful bay of Kvarner and its popular resort, Opatija. An orientation tour of Opatija will show off the highlights of this former Imperial resort city. Afterward, drive across the border into Slovenia and to Postojna Cave, one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour this fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterward, continue to Bled, beautifully set in the Julian Alps. Overnight in Bled. (B, D)

Day 8, Bled/Ljubljana/Bled

An Alpine lake surrounded by high peaks, Bled was “discovered” by travelers in the middle of the 19th century. A sightseeing tour features the charming town and the lakeshore, and visit of the imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. Afternoon excursion to Ljubljana; the city tour takes in views of the open-air Central Market, Baroque Town Hall, Robba’s Fountain, the Three Bridges, and the Parliament. Overnight in Bled. (B)

Day 9, Bled/Trieste/Venice

Leaving Bled, drive south to Trieste in Italy for orientation tour and visit to Miramare Castle and its lovely park. The castle was built by the Habsburg monarchy on a cliff overlooking Adriatic Sea. After your visit, continue on to the romantic city of Venice. Overnight in Venice. (B)


Day 10, Venice

Today begins with a walking tour of Venice featuring the major highlights.  Begin in famous St. Mark’s Square and stop in St. Mark’s Basilica.  This is one of the most beautiful basilicas in the world and is often referred to as the Chiesa d’Oro or Church of Gold because of its golden façade and opulent interior included a golden alter.   Next visit the Bell Tower, the Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace, which now houses an art gallery. The tour ends with a visit to a glass blowing factory where you may see the demonstration of a traditional Venetian glass blowing. In the afternoon enjoy Venice at your own pace.  Visit a museum like the Guggenheim or the galleries inside the Doges Palace. Visit the shops on the Ponte Rialto, or perhaps join an optional gondola ride for a once in a lifetime experience as the gondolier serenades you.  Enjoy a farewell dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Venice. (B, D)

Day 11, Depart Venice

After breakfast you will be transferred to Venice airport for your flight home.
