Jauntee’s Classic Croatia and Slovenia escorted tour is a wonderful opportunity for first time visitors to discover these wonderful destinations. This 9 day journey begins in Dubrovnik and makes several stops along the way before ending in Zagreb.

Start in the delightful city of Dubrovnik on the southern part of the beautiful Dalmatian coast and walk along its ancient city walls, stroll the Stradun and enjoy the sightseeing tour of the Rector’s Palace, Bell Tower Clock, Orlando’s Column and the Sponza Palace. Visit the Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries and learn about the oldest pharmacy in the world. Enjoy your free time by relaxing on the nearest beach or shopping for authentic Dalmatian souvenirs.

Continue to Split to view its famous Diocletian Palace. Explore the historic part of the town, stroll along the “riva”, a wonderful promenade and enjoy the amazing views of the sparkling blue Adriatic. Continue to Trogir, filled with numerous museums and art galleries before we continue to the Plitvice Lakes with the most amazing waterfalls in the world.

Next, we travel toward the Kvarner Riviera on the northern part of the Croatian coast and continue to Slovenia. Our first stop in Slovenia is the stunning Lake Bled where you will visit the Postojna cave before continuing to Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. There is so much to see and do in these three locations. Ljubljana is a beautiful city that you will love to explore.

The final days of your Classic Croatia and Slovenia tour will take you to the Croatian capital of Zagreb. You will be delighted by the charm of its Dolac market, Tkalčićeva street and the Upper Town.

Day 1, Dubrovnik

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure in Dubrovnik. Walk around the streets of this charming city until your welcome dinner tonight.  Or relax in a café and try some of the local specialties. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (D)


Day 2, Dubrovnik

There is a walking tour of “Old Dubrovnik” this morning.  Visit Rector’s Palace, which was built on the site of an ancient fort. Its interesting shape is the result of many reconstructions and additions because of natural disasters, fires and damage from wartime fighting through the years. Continue to the Bell Tower Clock and Orlando’s Column which was erected in 972 after finally defeating the Venetians and gaining freedom.  Travel next to Sponza Palace which retains its original architecture from 1516 although serving various purposes over time. You will also see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery with houses one of the oldest pharmacies in the world. Enjoy your free afternoon by taking an optional trip to the Island of Korčula or another picturesque town in the countryside for an insight on traditional life. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (B)

Day 3, Dubrovnik/Split

Today you will travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts, to Split. Enjoy a city tour featuring the historic inner city.  It was built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.  Diocletian’s Palace was built by the Roman Emperor in the IV century.  Gaze at the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral.  This Palace is truly one of a kind in Croatia.  Overnight in Split. Day 4, Split/Trogir/Plitvice

After breakfast in Split, head to the center of artistic activities in Croatia, Trogir.  The city was originally founded in the III century and has stood the test of time.  Scholars from around the world gather to study and paint here and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then, turn inland and travel to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Upon arrival, have your camera ready and take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air and stunning beauty. Overnight in Plitvice. (B, D)

Day 5, Plitvice/Opatija/Postojna/Bled

Stop by the beautiful resort town of Opatija on the bay of Kvarner.  Then journey north to Postojna, home to one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour the fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train; it’s the longest underground cave accessible by the public in Europe. Continue to the beautiful town of Bled the stunning lake town set amidst the majestic Julian Alps. Overnight in Bled. (B, D)

Day 6, Bled

Your day begins with a tour of the charming town of Bled.  The tour focuses on the churches and monuments as well as the imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. The balance of the day is at leisure for optional activities, such as visiting the small island in the middle of the lake. Visit the Vintgar Gorge in the middle of a lush green forest.  Or get some exercise and walk along one of the paths in the Pokljuka ravine. Overnight in Bled. (B)

Day 7, Bled/Ljubljana/Zagreb

Atart your day with a walking tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Visit the most significant sights of the old city centre: the picturesque Central open-air Market and the Three Bridges, both designed by famous architect Joze Plecnik, Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. Then, continue to Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia. Overnight in Zagreb. (B)


Day 8, Zagreb

Enjoy a city tour featuring the historic Upper Town, the ancient medieval part of town.  Visit St. Mark’s Church which was built in the XIII century and St. Catherine’s Church.  Continue on to the Cathedral, the Parliament and the Government Palace for an insight into the Croatian government. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the winding streets of the old town or to take an optional excursion with dinner into the surrounding countryside.  Perhaps visit the region of Istria also known as the “Croatian Tuscany”. With rolling hills, small medieval towns, fantastic wine and local cuisine this trip will be well worth it. Enjoy your final evening of the tour enjoying dinner from a local restaurant. Overnight in Zagreb. (B)

Day 9, Zagreb

After breakfast you will be transferred to Zagreb airport for your flight home.
