Plitvice Lakes National Park │ Day Trip from Zagreb │ Private │ Guided │ Full Day │ From $65
Spend a day in the gorgeous nature surrounded by rivers and waterfalls. In the company of your private driver visit Plitvice Lakes National Park. First we make a stop at Rastoke, situated at the mouth of the river Slunjčica, which flows into the river Korana. A series of small waterfalls, rapids and basins are created by travertine barriers. Admire numerous mills, which date back to the XVII century. Due to its architectural heritage, ethnographic and historical value, as well as its natural beauty, in 1969, Rastoke was declared a cultural monument. It is breathtaking in its natural beauty, cuisine and traditions, and we are sure that you will enjoy it with all of your senses. Explore the settlement by walking along the trails overlooking the waterfalls and rapids and enjoy the beauty of nature. The Korana River is the ideal place for whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking. In Rastoke, today, there are approximately 30 households, which were renovated and are well preserved to keep intact the traditions of this region. You can be a witness to the past lives of the people in this area and experience how they once lived, what they ate and even how they arranged their dining room and bedrooms. A number of the restaurants offer traditional dishes from this region, such as homemade polenta from the Rastoke mills, trout, lamb, venison, homemade bread, noodles and strudel.
Continue to the exquisite Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Europe’s largest nature reserve parks established in 1949. Enjoy Plitvice which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, and a fantastic place to get outdoors and experience the lush green landscapes. Walk and hike through the lakes and admire its stunning collection of waterfalls, lakes, forest and diversity of animal life. The lakes have unique colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. These colors change frequently based on the amount of minerals, underwater life and the angle of sunlight. The sixteen lakes, formed by natural dams of travertine, are separated into upper and lower lakes. Approximately 5 miles of pathways and wooden walking trails around lakes are accessible to explore. Take a boat ride across Kozjak, the largest of the lakes, and you will witness a unique perspective of nature: the lake is rife with crystal clear emerald water and fringed with bubbly white waterfalls! If you would like a more in-depth tour of the lakes, please select the option for a guided tour of the lakes with a professional licensed local guide at time of booking. Late afternoon return to Zagreb.
