Your guide will not only educate you on the history, politics, and architecture of the Eternal City, but will also make the life past times of ancient Rome come to life on a stage second-to-none in the world. Make the unparalleled experiences of gladiators, emperors, slaves, Vestal Virgins, senators, merchants, gods and goddesses your own. Visit all the best-known sites of ancient Rome, including the Colosseum, the Capitoline Hill, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Overnight at Hotel Artemide, Rome.

Combine it all in this full day excursion that takes you off the beaten track to experience just a taste of all that is so essentially Italian in part of Tuscany and Umbria, the most suggestive areas of our country. Departing from Rome and heading north crossing the Tiber valley, we reach Cortona. This town has changed little since the Middle Ages. More recently depicted in the Oscar winning film La vita e bella and described by American novelist Frances Mayes in Under the Tuscan sun, Cortona is enjoying a renewed popularity. Here, we stroll through the history center, discovering its hidden corners and absorbing the atmosphere of this picturesque town. After a drive along the shores of Lake Trasimeno, lunch will be served in a typical countryside restaurant. In the afternoon driving through the gentle hills of Chianti region, we reach the hilltop town of Montepulciano. The deep ruby red wine, Vino Nobile, of this town is worldwide famous. We visit one of its oldest wine cellars, carved out of the tufo rock, to discover some of the secrets of the winemaker and of course to taste the final result. Overnight at Hotel Artemide, Rome.
