Day 1, Vienna

You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Dinner tonight will be in a typical local Heurigen restaurant. And enjoy everything this amazing city has to offer. Overnight in Vienna. (D)



Day 2, Vienna

Make a visit today to the Belvedere Palace. A palace whose beauty on the interior rivals its gorgeous exterior.  Continue to one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe, the Prater amusement park.   On your sightseeing tour, visit the Hofburg Palace, once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the UN buildings.  You will also stop at St. Stephen’s Cathedral whose architecture will remind you of Austria’s rich historical past.  After a free afternoon, enjoy an evening concert of Strauss’ and Mozart’s music. Overnight in Vienna. (B)

Day 3, Vienna

Today you will visit the Kunsthistorische Museum and take a guided tour.  View paintings from Baroque painters, Egyptian and Near East collections and numerous other collections.  Enjoy the afternoon to yourself to discover this cosmopolitan city.  Walk around the city to view the various important monuments in the city like the Monument of the Red Army which commemorates the liberation of Austria from Nazi rule. Enjoy a musical performance.  Or instead take an optional day trip to the enchanting city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and the setting of The Sound of Music.  This enchanting town is surrounded by beautiful nature and the hills are alive with the sound of music.  Burst out in song as you stroll through the towns charming old quarter or walk along the river and think if the classic movie set here. Overnight in Vienna. (B)

Day 4, Vienna/Budapest

Travel East to Budapest, the former cities of Buda and Pest situated on the opposite banks of the Danube River.  The former cities are linked by a series of graceful bridges, try walking across the Chain Bridge for beautiful views of the city.  Enjoy your afternoon wandering around the city.  Or instead take an optional boat ride to the small towns of Szentendre or Esztergom and enjoy the stunning views and fresh air.  For dinner try the customary Hungarian dishes of Goulash soup, meats flavored with Paprika or sweet pancakes for desert. Overnight in Budapest. Day 5, Budapest

Begin your tour with the decorative Parliament building.  The symmetrical design of the building is supposed to be reminiscent of the Capital building in Washington D.C.  Also visit the National Assembly and Váci utca, a pedestrian street lined with countless shops and restaurants.  Continue on to the famous Heroes’ Square which contains the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Millennium Memorial, an 118 foot high Corinthian column dedicated to the Roman Catholic Church. Spend the rest of the day exploring the secrets of this city on your own.  With so much history and culture it won’t be hard to find something that interests you!  Overnight in Budapest. (B)

Day 6, Budapest

Today you will tour the Castle Hill area of the city.  Stop at the 13th century Matthias Church which was the first Parish church in Budapest.  Continue on to enjoy the marvelous views of the city at Fisherman’s Bastion and finally stop by the Royal Palace which looks spectacular light up at night from the river.   Your final afternoon of the tour is yours to stop by some local shops for last minute gifts or stop by St. Stephen’s Basilica which earns its name from honor of the Pope. Tonight, enjoy your final dinner with entertainment in a typical Czardas restaurant. Overnight in Budapest. (B, D)

Day 7, Budapest

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
