Some buildings in Zagreb date back to medieval days. Start in the Upper Town and visit St. Mark’s Church and the Lotršćak Tower which will provide you with sweeping views of the city. Slow down for a moment to enjoy a delicious fresh baked pastry and a cup of excellent coffee in one of the side walk cafes in Gornji Grad. Try the tasty home-made cheese and wine at Dolac, the lively open air market. Or instead have an intimate dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Zagreb. (B)
Today you will take a day trip to the exquisite Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Europe’s largest nature reserve parks. Plitvice is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fantastic place to get outdoors and experience the lush green landscapes and fresh air in Croatia. Walk, hike or bike along the green lakes and mesmerizing waterfalls and stop to have a picnic lunch. Transfer to Split for the evening. Overnight in Split. (B)
In Split, you will tour the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace. The palace is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and is known its unique architecture. View the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, The Temple of Jupiter and the Cathedral. Experience the Peristil, a public meeting place within the palace walls which becomes an open air stage in the summer when the Split Summer Festival takes place. Taste the local cuisine for dinner at a restaurant overlooking the ocean. Overnight in Split. (B)
Today you will have the choice to stay in Split or take an optional day trip to the stunning island of Hvar. Hvar is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful islands in Europe. Covered in lush Mediterranean vegetation, the island has fragrant lavender and rosemary fields. Enjoy the serenity of this lovely island and discover secluded beaches to relax on. Or you can choose to sail around the island and swim through the inviting waters before returning to Split for the evening. Overnight in Split. (B)
Dubrovnik is rich in culture and history dating back to the VII century. This city is home to a host of fantastic fountains, cathedrals and palaces. There is an included walking tour of the charming Old Town this morning. Visit Rector’s Palace, known for its many reconstructions over the years. Continue to Sponza Palace, the Bell Tower Clock and Orlando’s Column a symbol of Croatian independence from the Venetians. You will also see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to enjoy the fascinating history of this walled city. Overnight in Dubrovnik. (B)
Another full day in Dubrovnik to enjoy the best the city has to offer. Take an optional trip to the gorgeous island of Korčula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Korčula is known for its gothic architecture and stunning views. Or for more adventurous couples, choose to do a sea-kayaking tour on the island of beautiful Koločep. Or perhaps consider a day trip to nearby Montenegro, or a tour through Mostar in Bosnia. The possibilities are endless, and you will surely find a way to take in all the wonders of this amazing city! Enjoy your last evening in Dubrovnik by enjoying a delicious meal at an authentic restaurant and enjoy the local cuisine.
